Sam has 29 years of experience working within the NHS. Since qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse, Sam has worked within inpatient Forensic and Adult Acute Services, before specialising in Addictions (in-patient and High support Community Services). He moved over to work within CAMHS in 2009, helping develop and deliver out-of-hours crisis services. He moved into his last post as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Non-Medical Prescriber in 2013. Working in NHS for Core CAMHS services has provided extensive experience working with under-18s with formal diagnoses of ADHD and ASC. The extended role enabled him to provide a holistic comprehensive assessment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
He completed his Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescriber qualification in 2006 and used this qualification to support young people in the Dorset area with effective, evidence-based prescribing for associated symptoms of ADHD and other mental health-related conditions.
Now that Sam’s children have left home, outside of work he can keep very active. Enjoying long walks with the dog, kayaking/paddle boarding; playing touch rugby.
