5.0 Based on 75 reviews

Trucheck™ Intelli multi-cancer blood tests are an innovative blood test, designed to detect the earliest signs of over 70 types of cancer from a simple blood test.

Early detection plays a vital role in improving outcomes and ensuring you access timely, targeted treatments if needed.

Around half of cancers aren’t detected until they reach stages 3 or 4[1]. This may be because someone doesn’t experience many symptoms, or doctors might investigate other possibilities before drawing a cancer diagnosis. It’s also very common for people to ‘put their head in the sand’ or delay a doctor’s appointment, hoping the symptoms will go away.

Whilst it is possible to successfully treat later-stage cancers, the treatments tend to be more invasive, and outcomes are less favourable. There is also a greater risk of the cancer spreading to other parts of the body. Early detection saves lives.

How does Trucheck™ work?

Cancer cells release small particles, such as circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and other fragments, into the bloodstream. The Trucheck™ Intelli multi-cancer blood test detects these cells and can identify their probable source of origin. Should cancer-related cells be detected, our doctors will refer you for further investigations to evaluate what treatment, if any, may be needed.

The Trucheck™ process:

  1. A consultation with one of our doctors. to discuss your medical background and answer any questions.
  2. A blood sample will be taken from you and sent to one of our laboratories.
  3. Your blood sample is analysed using several processes. Results take around 20 days to complete.
  4. One of our doctors will review your results with you, answer any questions, and discuss any necessary treatments or further investigations, many of which can be done in house.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who is the Trucheck™ test for?

The test is designed for anyone over the age of 40, as that is when the risk of cancer increases. However, it can be useful for people younger than 40 who:

  • Have a family history of cancer
  • Have type 2 diabetes
  • Are obese
  • Have a history of infectious diseases linked to cancer, such as Hep B/C
  • Have a known hereditary gene mutation linked to cancer
What cancers does the Trucheck™ test detect?

The Trucheck™ test can detect over 70 types of cancer, including the below. For a full list, click here.

  • Melanoma
  • Head and Neck
  • Salivary Gland
  • Thyroid
  • Lung
  • Liver
  • Biliary Tract
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Soft Tissue
  • Osteosarcomas (bone cancers)
  • Mesothelioma
  • Urinary Tract
  • Gynaecological
  • Breast
  • Prostate
  • Thymus
  • Adrenal
  • Central Nervous System

(Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs) are only released from solid organs, not the blood or lymphatic system, meaning these cancers cannot be identified through a Trucheck™ test.)

How accurate is the Trucheck™ test?

Clinical studies have shown Trucheck™ to have an 88% sensitivity, which means that of 100 people tested who have cancer, 88 will be correctly identified. There is a chance of false positives, as with most tests, which is why it is recommended that if your blood results show suspected cancer cells, you continue with further investigations. If you receive negative results but have symptoms, please discuss this with your doctor.

You can read more about the clinical studies here and more about the tests here:

Not necessarily. There are several reasons CTCs might be detected, and one of these is that you may have received a ‘false positive’. By going forward for further targeted investigations (such as scans and biopsies), you will be able to get a clear picture of what next steps might be needed.

Does the Trucheck™ test replace my annual smear, mammogram, or PSA test?

No. The Trucheck™ test is designed to complement other diagnostic screening tests, such as a smear test, not replace them. We recommend all patients continue to access their regular screening tests.
