Our Environmental Sustainability Commitment
Haven Medical recognises the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimising the environmental impact of our operations. As a provider of healthcare services, including day surgery procedures, outpatient appointments and mental health services including diagnostic assessments for autism and ADHD for children, young people and adults, we are committed to identifying practical opportunities to improve our environmental performance while maintaining safe, accessible and high-quality services.
We aim to reduce the environmental impact of our clinical, administrative and digital activities through responsible resource management and continuous improvement.
Our Commitments
We will work towards the following objectives:
We will identify and, where practicable, reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with our premises, energy consumption, business travel, procurement and service delivery. Where appropriate, we will monitor our emissions to establish a baseline and inform future reduction measures.
We will seek opportunities to reduce energy consumption through responsible use of lighting, heating, equipment and digital resources, and consider energy efficiency when making decisions about premises and equipment.
We will encourage responsible purchasing, minimise unnecessary consumption, reduce waste and promote reuse and recycling where practicable. We will consider environmental factors when selecting suppliers and purchasing goods and services.
Where clinically appropriate and suitable for the individual, we will use digital processes and remote assessments to reduce unnecessary travel and paper consumption. We recognise that remote assessments are not appropriate for every patient or every clinical circumstance.
We will encourage staff and contractors, where applicable, to adopt environmentally responsible working practices and contribute ideas for improving our environmental performance.
We will periodically review our environmental practices, assess progress against identified objectives and consider further opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint. Where emissions data is available, we will use it to support evidence-based decisions and measure progress.
Accountability and Review
Responsibility for implementing this commitment rests with our management team. This statement will be reviewed periodically and updated as our services, operations and environmental objectives develop.
We will ensure that environmental claims made by our organisation are clear, accurate and supported by appropriate evidence, in line with applicable UK requirements and relevant guidance, including the Competition and Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code.
Our commitment is to take proportionate, practical and measurable steps towards reducing our environmental impact while continuing to deliver safe, effective and person-centred diagnostic services.
