Katie Lapthorn
Katie is a Neurodevelopmental Practitioner who specialises in working with young people with a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and/or Learning difficulties. After graduating with her Psychology Degree, she began her professional career working in specialist education provisions for 6 years as a Senior Teaching Assistant and ELSA.
This invaluable experience, learning how person-centred approaches can be powerful for helping families and young people thrive, began her passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals.
From this, she worked within a successful NHS autism assessment service, completed a Masters in Neurodevelopmental and Clinical Psychology and qualified through the CYP-IAPT ASD/LD diploma at Exeter University. Currently, she is part of a CAMHS Service delivering adapted therapies and helping manage the discharge pathway in the autism assessment service, providing post-diagnostic support. She enjoys continuing to be a part of these young people’s lives, supporting and advocating for them and their families.
Beyond her passion for neurodiversity, she has been a dedicated Ballroom and Latin dancer since a young age and enjoyed competing around the country, including in Blackpool’s famous ballrooms. She also loves spending time with her family, doing some gardening when the sun comes out and relaxing with her two mischievous but cuddly cats.
