Very efficient, welcoming and informativePosted on Megan AnnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t recommend this private GP practice highly enough. I’ve attended for my own GP appointments as well as appointments for my daughter, and every visit has been a great experience. Most of the time I have been able to get a same-day appointment, which was very important to me with children. I have seen both Dr Newman, who was so lovely, knowledgeable, and informative, always taking the time to listen and explain everything clearly, and Dr Kate Bolwell, who was very gentle and reassuring with my daughter and made the whole experience of toddler vaccinations far less daunting and even enjoyable. I can’t commend them enough for how wonderful they both were. An excellent practice with exceptional doctors.Posted on Tracy CroslandTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very calm and organised which is especially great as I suffered from White Coat Syndrome. Thank you 😊Posted on Terry WhiteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I chose Haven Medical firstly after receiving a very competitive quote and also I liked the idea of a private clinic as opposed to large private hospital. All the staff were very helpful, kind and professional in every way. Thankyou, I would highly recommend Haven Medical .Posted on Jessica WarburtonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had an exceptional experience at Haven Medical that I felt compelled to share. My partner called in the morning, and just an hour later, we had an appointment for our six-year-old son, who has type one diabetes. We had originally contacted our regular doctor's office, only to be told that the next available appointment wouldn't be until New Year's Eve, which was frankly unacceptable given my son's high temperature and persistent cough. Upon arriving at Haven Medical, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member at the front desk, which immediately put us at ease. The doctor who examined our son was thorough and attentive, taking the time to ensure that all our concerns were addressed. She provided a prescription for antibiotics and never rushed through the appointment, making sure we felt comfortable and informed. The entire process was smooth, and we were seen just five minutes before our scheduled time, which was impressive. I can't recommend Haven Medical enough; the quality of service we received was outstanding. We will definitely be returning for future healthcare needs and are more than willing to pay for the excellent care they provide!Posted on john gilbertTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our private dermatology specialists provide expert, personalised care for mole checks, mole removal and suspicious skin changes. Whether you have a mole you would like checked, a beauty spot you want removed, or a changing or unusual mole that needs investigating, our consultant dermatologists are here to help. Using advanced diagnostic techniques including dermoscopy, we focus on accurate assessment and clear, effective treatment tailored to you.
Having your moles checked by a consultant dermatologist is the safest and most accurate way to identify suspicious or changing moles. While most moles are completely harmless, some can change over time and in rare cases develop into melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. Early detection makes a significant difference to outcomes, which is why prompt assessment of any new or changing mole matters.
At Haven Medical in Poole and Bournemouth, our consultant dermatologists use dermoscopy to carry out thorough mole and skin cancer checks. Dermoscopy is a specialist magnifying technique that allows our clinicians to examine the detailed structure of a mole in a way that is simply not possible with the naked eye, significantly improving diagnostic accuracy.
During a mole check, your consultant will assess the size, shape, colour, border and texture of your moles, looking for any features that might indicate a need for further investigation or removal. If a mole looks suspicious, a biopsy can be arranged quickly, giving you answers without a lengthy wait.
Whether you have noticed a new mole, a mole that is itching, bleeding or changing, or you simply want reassurance and a thorough skin review, a private mole check at Haven Medical gives you fast access to expert care and genuine peace of mind. Appointments are available to book today.
Where a mole needs to be removed, our consultant dermatologists at Haven Medical provide safe, effective and precise mole removal in Poole and Bournemouth. Whether you want a mole removed for cosmetic reasons, because it is catching on clothing, or following a clinical assessment that has raised concerns, all procedures are carried out to the highest standard with your comfort and care as the priority.
Mole removal is performed under local anaesthetic as a straightforward day procedure, meaning you can go home the same day. The method used depends on the type, size and location of the mole. Surgical excision involves removing the mole and a small margin of surrounding tissue and is typically used where a mole requires histological analysis. Shave excision is a less invasive technique suited to raised moles and generally results in minimal scarring.
All removed moles are routinely sent for histological analysis, giving you confirmation of whether the mole was benign and complete peace of mind. Your consultant will discuss the results with you and advise on any further steps if needed.
Full aftercare guidance is provided following every procedure, and our team is on hand to answer any questions during your recovery. If you have a mole you would like assessed or removed, appointments are available to book today.
Transparent, competitive pricing for private dermatology care with no hidden costs. All consultations include a thorough examination and personalised treatment plan. Additional procedures and treatments are discussed and agreed before proceeding.

A mole, also known as a naevus or beauty spot, is a common skin growth formed by a cluster of pigment-producing cells called melanocytes. Most adults have between 10 and 40 moles, and the vast majority are completely harmless. They typically appear as small, round or oval marks on the skin, ranging in colour from tan and brown to darker shades, and can be flat or slightly raised.
Most moles develop during childhood and adolescence. New moles appearing in adulthood, particularly after the age of 40, are worth having assessed by a consultant dermatologist. While most moles remain benign throughout a person’s lifetime, some can change over time and in rare cases develop into melanoma, which is why regular monitoring and prompt assessment of any changes is important.
Dermoscopy is a non-invasive technique using a specialist magnifying device with polarised light to examine the detailed structure of a mole or skin lesion. It significantly improves diagnostic accuracy compared to visual inspection alone and is a routine part of a mole assessment at Haven Medical.
The cost depends on the size, location and removal method required. All fees are discussed and agreed with you before any procedure takes place. Please see our pricing section for indicative costs.
The NHS will only remove moles that are clinically necessary to remove, such as those suspected of being cancerous. Moles removed for cosmetic reasons or patient reassurance are not routinely funded, making private treatment the most practical option for most people.
Most moles are removed by surgical excision or shave excision under local anaesthetic. The method depends on the type, size and location of the mole. Your consultant dermatologist will advise on the most appropriate approach at your consultation.
All surgical removal will leave some degree of scarring, though this is usually minimal and fades over time. Our consultant dermatologists use precise techniques to minimise scarring, particularly on visible areas such as the face.
Most mole removal procedures are straightforward and completed within 30 minutes as a day procedure. You will be able to go home the same day.
Removed moles are routinely sent for histological analysis to confirm whether they are benign. Your consultant will discuss the results with you and advise on any further steps if needed.
